Frequently Asked Questions

  • What should I wear for my headshots?

For headshots, I recommend solid colors, open necklines, minimal jewelry, and light makeup. We want the focus to be on your face! Keep in mind if you choose a black or white shirt, that we will not necessarily want to use a backdrop that is the same color. Your pants and shoes won’t be seen in your headshots, so no need to fret over those!

  • How many photos do you take in a session?

Anywhere from 200 to over 1000! Needless to say, there are many outtakes for us to filter through. Snapping away is the most reliable way for me to capture fleeting moments and genuine expressions in your photos. The best of the best make it to the final editing stage and then to your gallery.

  • What should I wear for my portraits?

Similarly to headshots, I recommend solid, neutral colors (especially for outdoor portraits). Keep in mind the location of your photoshoot. At the forest preserve? Avoid greens (unless it’s winter). Keep in mind that one color can appear different under different lighting scenarios at different times of day. Neutrals read best across most scenarios!

  • Do you do full beauty retouching for portraits?

Yes! I can provide high-end beauty retouching for portraits and headshots at a rate ranging from $30-$45 per photo.

Standard packages include exposure correction, color correction, and blemish removal.

  • How long do I have to order more photos?

Each package includes a selection of edits (and retouches, for studio shoots). If you’d like to order additional edits, you are welcome to do so!

    Retouched Headshots: $30/image
    Unretouched Headshots: $20/image
    Full Unretouched Galleries: $150+

Additional images are available up to 3 months after your shoot. Completed digital galleries are accessible to redownload up to 12 months after your shoot.

  • When will I get my photos?

    Headshots: 2-3 weeks
    Portraits: 2-3 weeks
Engagement & Elopement Galleries: 3-4 weeks
    Families: 3-4 weeks
    Wedding Galleries: 4-6 weeks

I put time and care into each gallery I edit. It’s important to me that your gallery is consistent, well-edited, and beautiful! If you have a delivery deadline, please let me know when you book your session.

When scheduling allows, I can deliver last-minute headshots for a rush editing fee.

  • Can I have my unedited photos?

No — part of the product I provide to my clients is my editing style. Each file requires time to process and export, like each negative would need to be developed for film. RAW photos are very, very large files that cannot be uploaded directly to most platforms and, on the whole, are unappealing until they have been processed.

I am happy to add on individual photos (for headshots and studio portraits) and bundles of photos (for outdoor and couples’ shoots) to your package price.

  • What is the difference between "editing" and "retouching"?

“Photo editing is generally used for more basic improvements, such as color correction, cropping, and compositing. In contrast, photo retouching is used for more targeted adjustments, such as removing blemishes or enhancing the skin.”

I edit all of my images for exposure, color, contrast, and an appealing crop.
